10 Tech Products That We Want in Malaysia

New tech gadgets and hardware are rolled out all year round, and a number of these wonderful things may or may not make it to our shores for many reasons – at least through official means. Today, we've decided to share our list of top ten interesting tech products that aren't released officially in Malaysia.

  • The Philips hue combines brilliant LED lighting with self-generated technology. With all the bulbs combined, the companion bridge device and mobile app will change the way you manage the lights in your home. It has been tested with shades of white, invigorating blue to soothing yellow and all the colors in the hue spectrum. Users can also customize the tone of the light using their smartphone to match their mood or the time of the day.

  • Although it's been out in the U.S. for months now, the NVIDIA Shield is yet to be sold locally, which is a shame as the portable gaming console brings a 5-inch touchscreen display and console-quality game controller to the modern PC gamers. Powered by NVIDIA Tegra 4, the Shield runs on Android OS, but it also streams your games from an NVIDIA GeForce-powered PC, so you can continue your gameplay remotely using your home Wi-Fi or beyond.

  • Tesla is one of the few companies to exclusively release fully electric cars for consumers. With a single charge, the Tesla S can traverse up to 452km at a speed of 80km/h. Despite being an electric car, it goes from 0 to 90 km/h in just 5.4 seconds. In the U.S., a driver has set a record by traveling from New York to Miami and back without spending a single penny.

  • The Xbox One is set to arrive in 26 countries sometime in September, and Malaysia is not one of them. Designed as a gaming console as well as a home entertainment center, the Xbox One can be connected to your cable or satellite box, where HDMI pass-through will enable you to access and watch TV content via the console. The included Kinect sensor has been improved from its predecessor to be more responsive and intuitive. With voice commands, users can turn on the console, switch between screens, search using Bing, and launch their games using their voice.

  • Japan certainly has a way of surprising consumers with their take on home appliances. Case in point: Panasonic has produced a new rice cooker with wireless RFID hardware that can be programmed and configured using Android mobile devices. Users can download cooking instructions for all kind of recipe, then transfer the information to the cooker. Talk about teaching a rice cooker new tricks!
